2013 Janell Wysock Day Five -Juliana
Today we made a lot of plarn (plastic yarn) and then we "finished" our weaving projects. By pulling the strands of warp down we tightened the top. Mine took forever because I wove so much!
Pia finished her's and Janell took some silly pictures of us with it. Here's one:
At around 12 Diane came back and drew Pia and as we worked. It was so cool. Overall we had an amazing time and learned a lot!
2013 Sweet Salvation Truffles Day Five -Annie
This whole week was such a good experience. I came into it with some ideas and thoughts of how chocolate truffle making was like but I was wrong. It was so fun and it was great to be given the reins at certain times. I hope I can make truffles from home now and maybe do this internship again.
2013 Yellow Springs Farm Day Five -Nick
On my last day (Friday) it was raining hard. We started out mucking out the stalls at the farm. After my sister went to the cheese room we got some milk out of the refrigerator and brought it with us to Hollow farm. At hollow farm we fed the babies milk. We fed them inside there stalls because it was to wet to let them out. I also helped a newborn drink milk from his mother.
After we had fed the babies, we made sure that all the goats in their stalls had hay, grain and water. We mucked out all the stalls before heading to lunch. After lunch we stayed at yellow springs farm. We cleaned up around the stalls and then made sure the goats had food and water. The rest of the afternoon was spent saving udders and trimming the goats hooves. At the end of the day I said farewell to the goats and the folks there and headed home with some delicious goat cheese in hand!
